I’ve been in D.C. for two and a half weeks now and it’s been going well. I’m crashing at Chris’ place in his paid-for-by-work housing (that fool doesn’t pay rent! so… neither do I) and we make a huge mess every day. Good thing there’s a maid every Friday or else who knows what kind of pigsty we would live in.
I like my internship a lot (more on that tomorrow) but the commute SUCKS ASS. It takes me 3.5 hours round trip every day to get to work and back. I wake up around 6:30 AM and get home around 7:30 PM. But good news! We’re moving in a little more than two weeks! I am so excited, you have no idea. Once we move, my round trip commute will be like 40 minutes. SWEET!
I do nothing but commute, work, sleep, and “cook” with some occasional TV. There’s not time for much else when you get home so late and need to sleep so early. Chris is a good roommate - highly considerate and we haven’t strangled each other yet which is a good sign.
I get some semblance of a social life on the weekends. Hanging out all weekend is a good change from the grind of the week days. A few of Chris’ friends are here working in D.C., I have some friends I made when I was here in D.C. last fall, and plus Alan just got here. Once we move we will live much, MUCH closer to the city and our friends. I’ll be able to hang out with people on *gasp* weekdays too!
That’s all for now!
