GRE Word of the Day
I started picking a vocab word a day to study. Baby steps for someone who HATES studying. :) I started on Sunday so there have been three words of the day so far…
- Abscond: To leave secretly
- Kaplan example: The patron ABSCONDED from the restaurant without paying his bill by sneaking out the back door.
- My example: My friend ABSCONDS from the back house where her boyfriend lives every morning because her boss lives in the front house.
- Aggrandize: To increase in power, influence, and reputation
- Kaplan example: The supervisor sought to AGGRANDIZE himself by claiming that the achievements of his staff were actually his own.
- My example: Viagra can AGGRANDIZE your flaccid penis.
- Amalgamate: To combine; to mix together
- Kaplan example: Giant Industries AMALGAMATED with Mega Products to form giant-mega Products Incorporated.
- My example: Whitney Houston used to AMALGAMATE cocaine with her weed before she would smoke it with Bobby Brown.
